It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas...

...Although it is 87 and humid!  I guess this is something they do every year to the Cinta Costera (the long stretching bike path in front of our apartment/along the Pacific ocean), and it seems to walk a fine holiday/tacky line.  I hope my pictures have done this "death by plastic" justice!  Everyone has been working very hard on this display for the past week.  Tomorrow is supposed to be the big "kick off" and the lighting of the Coca Cola Christmas Tree.  Nothing says "Christmas" like Coca Cola products, ha.  My favorite part of this display has to be the large, icicled letters spelling out "Polo Norte" (North Pole).  Aren't we basically at the equator??  At least our apartment building has a normal Christmas tree up in the lobby.

You can't see it from here, but the words "Polo Norte" are on the side of the tree closest to me :)

bethlehem?

I received an email from James today while he was at work.  This was the subject line:  AMIGO SECRETO EN TAX DEPARTMENT (SECRET SANTA FOR JAMES).  I especially enjoyed that they translated the subject line of the email, but everything else was in red and green Spanish. :)  The last line included this:  P.D.:  Si alguien puede favor y transmitir el mensaje (translation) a James….Gracias (It says, P.S. Can anyone please send this message translated to James...Thanks).  Haha.  I guess we will be finding some "Amigo Secreto" gifts this weekend!

We are planning to celebrate Genevieve's 1st Birthday tomorrow by taking her to the local zoo and botanical gardens.  It really isn't much, but I think she will enjoy seeing the animals!  We will have to find a bakery this weekend as well to get her a little Birthday cake.  I can't believe my little baby is almost 1!!  I am sure that I will post pictures from our day at the zoo at some point this weekend!  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  Only 23 more days until Christmas! :)

Taking a break on our walk to check out the fountains!

I'm almost ONE!! (5 more days!)

ew, totally ignore the sweaty, sunburned, mess that is me and just admire G and the background scenery!

Hi Annie ~ I laughed out loud at this post . . . the plastic Christmas display is incredible. But I'm glad they celebrate Christmas with gusto there. It's also neat that James' office mates have included him in their secret Santa exchange. Have fun at the zoo this weekend. G should love that! Maybe they'll have penguins with a sign that says "south pole" (ha!) Lots of love, Laurie xo
